Welcome back families! We are sharing the weekly bulletin a little earlier because we have a number of upcoming events.

Family Meal Out TOMORROW: March 22nd 4pm-8pm!

Unfortunately, Panera had to cancel; however, they are sending a generous donation of $200 to the school! ❤️ Instead, we are having a Biaggis Family Meal Out on March 22nd 4pm-8pm!  Order your Biaggi’s Pronto Pack for curbside pick up! Mention Robeson upon pick up and 10% of total sales goes to our school!  Please see flyers (1, 2) for more details and pronto pack options!  Thank you for supporting Robeson!

Bingo Night & Silent Auction FRIDAY, March 25 6-8p

Join us for a night of fun and supporting Robeson. Two rounds of gaming fun (6 games total) will be played. 

Who: All adult & child players are welcome!

Cost: Entry is free, $10 to play with 6 game cards and $2 for each additional card

Prizes: Many! Including prize money and other items

Silent Auction: Winners announced at the end of the night!


Chess Club (Flyer)

The Robeson Elementary School Chess Club will be starting soon!  The club runs Wednesdays after school from March 30 - April 27.  An instructor from the Illinois Chess Association will be assisting the kids to learn the royal game and grow in their ability to play.  The club is open to all 1st - 5th graders but will be capped at 20 students, so sign up ASAP!  Interested in helping to volunteer for one or more weeks?  Please contact Page Thies ([email protected]).  

To help offset the start-up costs of this new club, the PTA welcomes a $10 donation towards the purchase of Robeson's new chess sets, training board, and instruction time.  Contributions may be made through MemberHub.  

Summer Reading Clinic

The University of Illinois will be holding a Summer Reading Clinic for elementary students in grades 2 through 5 from Monday through Friday, June 13th – July 8th. This camp is designed to serve families with students who have shown characteristics of reading difficulties and are reading below grade level. Intended students may benefit from focused instruction in phonological awareness/foundational skills, comprehension, fluency and writing. There is a Clinic registration fee of $150 for accepted students. Partial scholarships are available for those who qualify. We will soon meet to organize class lists for 22-23. Balanced classrooms are composed of diversity in gender, socio-economic status, academic achievement, as well as personalities. Our school team will use information about your student as well as others to support everyone at Robeson. I invite you to provide me with input about your child’s placement as we prepare class assignments for the upcoming school year. In doing so, please observe the following procedure: 

Parent input for a specific learning environment (not for a specific teacher) is submitted in writing to the principal no later than March 25th, 2022.  

-Please send a separate email for each child. 

-The email should describe the environment in which your student will be successful and why.

-Please compose an email addressed to [email protected], subject line “Student Environment Request”, followed by your student’s name.

-Requests for specific teachers should not be submitted, nor will they be granted.

Young Author Contest: It's that time of year again to be thinking about the Young Author Contest. LINKED HERE you will find the contest information. If your students have done some fun writing this year, or will in the coming months,  encourage them to submit to this contest. We love reading their creative submissions and giving away gift certificates to purchase books to inspire future writing. The contest deadline is March 31st.
